I enjoyed and agreed with this article. Having worked in the CDFI industry, a niche within financial services focused on equity and community development, I can say truly mission driven organizations stand radically apart from performative companies (of course, not perfect or without problems — but closer to equity). It is unfortunate that businesses may feel safer with small, incremental change but can build a real external presence as well when truly committed to equitable work. Most can’t see the real opportunity and perspective that diversity, inclusion and equity bring.
