Wow. I remember so much of this and yet so little. I had forgotten how amazing caller ID was, and the free cell calls after 9pm. I have been writing a memoir and am realizing that it’s difficult to write about life before our current technology without constantly reminding the reader how different the world was. Example: I’m writing an excerpt about 9/11 and having to insert “but no one in the room owned a cell phone then.”
